You’ve made the launch into the Cloud, but one concern you may have now is getting ERP, HCM and PPM to update your EPBCS applications dynamically and without error.

Previously, former Planning on-premise users would dive right into Financial Data Manager Enterprise Edition (FDMEE) or Data Relationship Manager (DRM), toss in some SQL routines and magically complete the integration.  Now with Cloud environments, users have an “FDMEE Light” option called Data Management.  Data management works well for the occasional load; however, if the data loads aren’t coupled with metadata updates, those loads are subject to errors that could cause time-consuming process stops.

So, how can you avoid this?

Automating the Process 

EPM Automate allows users to have an automated process that loads multiple times a day while simultaneously processing metadata and data.  It uses load commands to update metadata prior to loading data in a synchronized process with enhanced logging.  In addition, EPM Automate can load files using MS-DOS, Microsoft Scheduler and other scheduling applications already a part of the user environment. With this newfound flexibility, users will be able to leverage existing tools and skills within their organizations to enhance administrative processes.

For example, let’s say you’re utilizing the Oracle Financials Cloud, and you need to build a budget and reporting application in EPBCS.  One key requirement of these tools is that ERP Cloud and EPBCS use the same Entity and Chart of Accounts structure.  As the EPBCS Administrator, you must ensure all updates to the ERP Cloud structures are captured in EPBCS; the key is knowing when changes have been made.

The thing is, you might not know that a change has been made at all.

As an administrator, there is nothing worse than being in a close cycle when the EPBCS data load fails.  Your notifications are overflowing with demands for updated data, then you come to find out the failure was caused  by a new account being added to the General Ledger and you were not notified of this addition.  So, how do we keep this from happening in the first place?
